Education CV

Léa Weimann is a first year CPGS research student working on international environment and climate change law. Her academic foundation includes a Master of Law (LL.M) in Global Environment and Climate Change Law from the University of Edinburgh and a MA (Honours, 1st Class) in International Relations & Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews. Her exceptional achievements at the University of St Andrews earned her the prestigious Principal’s Medal, recognizing her outstanding academic performance, community service, and exceptional dedication.

In St Andrews, she organised and led the Line in the Sand event which catalysed the launch of the University of St Andrews' executive Environmental Sustainability Board (ESB) and Net Zero Strategy. Léa served as a student advisor for the ESB in 2020-21 and was also the elected Environment Officer of the Students' Association. With over five years of experience in hosting and running radio shows and podcasts, including "Eco Activist Journeys" and the "People of COP Podcast," Léa is a versatile advocate for her cause. Her creative side shines through in her poetry book, "Dear Earth," which beautifully merges art and environmental activism. Notably, she had the unique privilege of performing her poetry at COP27 in a TEDx-inspired speech that highlighted the Stop Ecocide movement. Léa is involved in various national and international environmental initiatives and co-leads the Youth for Ecocide Law branch of Stop Ecocide International. As a dedicated UN delegate, she has represented the voices of youth at significant UN Conferences, including Stockholm+50, COP27, and the UNFCCC SB58 Conference. Her unwavering passion revolves around driving societal change and using the law to ensure a habitable planet for all.
