Professor Lionel Bently and Dr Rufus Pollock are amongst a number of European academics who have released a statement to the press regarding the vote on 23rd March 2009 by the European Parliament on a Directive, extending the term of copyright for sound recordings. The statement urges the European Parliament, and the governments of member states of the European Union, to consider carefully the independent evidence on copyright term extension, and reject the Directive in its proposed form.

The statement is available to read here and the list of studes and signatories here
