Oxford IP Moot - Cambridge Team Reach the Semi-finalsA team from Cambridge participated in the Annual 2013 International Intellectual Property Law Moot, held over the weekend of 16/17 March. The team consisted of Jessica Egan and Bernhard Heinzl, both LL.M. students at Darwin College, with Stephanie Wickenden, an affiliated law student at Wolfson College, as reserve mooter.

This year's moot problem concerned the extent to which trade mark protection should be available to a drug manufacturer following the expiry of a pharmaceutical patent. The Cambridge team reached the semi-finals, losing to eventual winners University of Ottawa. The team won the prize for best written submissions, and Jessica Egan also took second place in the best individual mooter awards.

A full report with details of the mooting problem is available here.

Yin Harn Lee (Ph.D candidate in Law) coached the team, who also benefited from additional guidance from Professor Lionel Bently, Professor Paul Heald and Dr Jennifer Davis.
