Wednesday, 2 August 2017

On 9 July 2017, CIPIL’s Krzysztof Garstka participated in a pioneering workshop at the University of Haifa, focused on exploring the possibilities of implementing the doctrine of fair use within the field of online copyright enforcement, through the adequate development and use of algorithms. The international, multidisciplinary group of participants included scholars from Israel, USA and the UK, as well as representatives of Google.

Krzysztof delivered a presentation on the issue of accountability in algorithmic copyright enforcement, outlining various legal implementation patterns which could be embraced in order to improve accountability in the discussed field.

The workshop was organised by the University of Haifa’s Centre for Cyber Law & Policy, Learning in a NetworKed Society (LINKS) initiative, and University of California Los Angeles’ Program on Understanding Law, Science, & Evidence (PULSE).
